Call routing and a trip log for a taxi fleet. It answers the business line, decides whose phone rings, and keeps the week's money straight - recorded at the kerb, not typed up at the end of a shift.
Calls arrive on the company's number and rules decide where they go, by who is on shift. A driver's own mobile is never given out. A passenger sees the business line, and a driver asleep at 4 AM is not a missed fare, because the call was never his to miss.
If anything upstream is unreachable the caller still hears a greeting. Nobody ever gets dead air.
The phone pins the pickup and the drop. The rest is said out loud, once, while pulling away - what it came to, how it was paid, and anything worth remembering about the job.
Every fare is written on the phone first and sent when there is a bar. A dead zone is not a lost job.
The amount comes from the words. The HST is recomputed from the province's rate afterwards, never estimated.
Each is its own thing. Money the company already holds is never counted as money that reached the driver's hand.
Receipts are captured in the same pass and land in the week they belong to, against the driver who bought them.
On Monday the office puts the meter's own export and the card reader's export against the week as recorded. Anything that disagrees becomes a line on the driver's screen, naming the job and the difference - not a phone call three days later about a fare nobody can place.
One sentence at the top of the week says whose turn it is, and both sides read the same sentence. Nobody marks a week finished by hand: it closes when nothing is open and the money has arrived.
The office sees every driver's money, and cash tips are not in it - that money never passed through the company. A driver sees his own week and no further. Lost property is the one thing shared across the fleet, because somebody has to be able to answer which van a bag was left in.
It runs against a live fleet, so there is nothing here to poke at without handing you somebody's real passengers and addresses. A demo with invented data is the right way to show it, and that is worth doing properly.
